I rode the Gator with Raif in Melissa's backyard. I said goodbye to the cats and dogs. We drove to Savannah, we stopped at the park and got Leopold's ice cream. I got a mini brownie sundae with chocolate raspberry swirl ice cream. We came to Jekyll Island and we set up the tent. We ate potato gnocchi and peas and carrots for dinner. We went to the beach and swam in the Atlantic Ocean and the water was really warm. We found a dead horseshoe crab and I picked it up and made it a grave and buried it where Leia dug a hole in the sand. We had sparklers at our campsite and took a nice shower. We hear lots of cicadas outside the tent and we had to light our mosquito lamp tonight. Written by Elizabeth Curtis.
Hello Lady Bug Adventure travelers!
ReplyDeleteWhen you return to Savannah, here's a tasty place where we got lunch and then had a picnic:
Back in the Day Bakery
2483 Bull Street, Savannah, GA
Their mission:
"Slow down & taste the sweet life"
OPEN: Tuesday - Saturday: 8am to 5pm
LUNCH served: 11:30am to 3:00pm
CLOSED: Sunday & Monday
The interior alone is worth the visit.
I really liked Savannah. We took a Hearse Ghost Tour and ate at Mrs Wilkes Boarding House a week after President Obama had eaten there. So much food and great Southern Hospitality - everyone sat at one big table and passed bowls of food around. From Savannah, we followed Highway 17 to St Augustine - what a beautiful drive. But we didn't stop at Jekll Island...Looks beautiful and such soft surf!
Savannah was nice for a brief visit. We were planning on returning with Jim for a weekend later this month, but he cannot make it. Hoping to reschedule so we are not there on a weekend to avoid the crowds. We will hang to check out back in the day. The also have a walking scavenger hunt that starts from the Juliette Low house that looks like a fun way to explore the city.
