We drove to the Mississippi State Capitol in Jackson. There were lots of trees, it was very beautiful. We ate breakfast at Sugar's Place and had scrambled eggs, grits and a waffle. We went to Memphis, TN for lunch and ate on Beale Street. We also stopped at Graceland and saw the Elvis plane. Then, we drove to Little Rock and went inside the state capitol. We saw the Governor's meeting room. The front doors were made of bronze, but they did not open, we had to go through the tunnel doors. We are camping in Arkansas at Petit Jean State Park. We watched Dolphin Tale about Winter the dolphin tonight. Written by Elizabeth Curtis.
Hello lady bug travelers -
ReplyDeleteWe went to Graceland so fun and tad bit peculiar - Carey had Elvis' favorite sandwich: grilled peanut butter and banana on white bread. We toured the mansion and saw all his outfits and gold albums. We also walked along Beale Street and went to the Memphis Rock & Soul Museum and Sun Studios where Elvis Presley and others recorded their music. We bought your Dad a t-shirt at Sun Studios and your uncle Dan a t-shirt at B.B. King's Blues Club on Beale Street.
But we missed out on famous Memphis BBQ because we had to get Pico who stayed in the Hotel across the border in Horn Lake, Mississippi, while we were in Memphis - we shared the hotel with emergency response trucks and crew because there were hurricane warnings.
We cut Arkansas from our trip because there had been flooding and hurricanes.
Did you read the story of the name of Petit Jean State Park? It's very sad. Were you able to see the pictographs there?
You must be zooming home - hope your dad finished painting your room and got your new bed so you don't have to sleep on the floor with Leia!!!
